I don’t know about you but lately everything seems extra INSANE
Finding ways to get grounded and enjoy a night out can feel impossible
Tonight I get to go see BUILT TO SPILL and MODEST MOUSE with my (not so little) brother right here in Kingston.
I am a sucker for really LOUD music and GUITAR solos!
standing next to a loved one and smiling ear to ear while singing along to the songs we love is healing on so many levels
In 2007 I got sober and had a hard time listening to some of the music I was getting high and drunk to. But some I can still enjoy and appreciate especially when I am with Zak
MODEST MOUSE was touring a lot in 2007-2008 so I went to a ton of shows to see them. I even met Isaac Brock in a bar in Brooklyn. I took some to the suggestions the program offers and took my chances on others. I could not imagine my life without live music. But I was afraid without booze and drugs I may not be able to enjoy and or deal with the crowd at a live show. Thank god I didn’t have to try any of it alone. I went with sober friends and my brother (who was underage at the time) and found a way to live FREE from all of that fear!
MUSIC - lyrics - PAINTING has SAVED my life… again and again!
I wake up with a VERY busy mind. I love a new day, the sun rising over the reservoir… the light shining in on our little living space. Saying THANK YOU UNIVERSE for one more day.
FUCK… I don’t want to live with regrets anymore.
ALL of this to say I love music, and I know you do too. We don't even have to agree on the kind of music. That doesn’t matter at all!
Although there are some deal breakers.. haaaa
Let’s keep showing up and fighting when necessary!
MAKE ART!
MAKE LOVE!
FUCK IT!
Do it! NOW.
Maybe I’ll see some of you at UPAC tonight.
IF not.. hope you are finding joy and LETTING THAT SHIT go one way or another.
