Wednesday’s 5-8pm
I am at the school every Wednesday from 5-8pm all year long. Each session is 4 consecutive weeks.
Working with a variety of materials, students will create multiple works of abstract art. Classroom discussion and instructor demos will support new as well as seasoned artists to find a place to start. Mark making, blind drawing, collage concepts, and color combinations will be encouraged. This class will focus on the joy and playfulness of art making.

Tuesday’s 1-4pm
Teens will have an opportunity to explore abstract oil painting along with the opportunity to adventure into using mixed media. Instructor Melanie Delgado will guide students through demonstrations, exercises and oil painting techniques. This 4 week class will allow students to work with oil & create an original work of art. Students will learn how to talk about their process and work. The workshop is open to teens, no experience necessary! This class will include: History of abstract art. Group and individual critique. Time to explore materials independently. Small group discussion. Scholarships available.
August 23 & 24, 2025 | Woodstock School of Art, Woodstock NY
Saturday & Sunday 9am-4pm
Participants will create works of art inside of a sketchbook. A sketchbook is a place to play with new ideas that can lead to future paintings. Delgado will lead participants through several sketchbook warm ups. These will then be used as a jumping off place for paintings on day 2. Students will gain confidence through experimenting with new & familiar materials and exercises. Suitable for all levels, no experience necessary! Ages 18+

Monday’s 10am-11am EST (live & recorded, so you can attend & watch the class anytime)
Each session Delgado will guide artists through an exploration of materials, demonstrations, optional homework and critiques. New as well as seasoned artists will be introduced to a variety of exercises that will provide other methods and inspiration on starting and completing a new painting. We will discuss materials and how to get started. We will explore mark making, shapes and color. New exercises will be demonstrated. Students will learn about new techniques and ways to keep moving forward. Suitable for all levels, no experience necessary! Ages 18+
ABSTRACTION WITH R&F PIGMENTS STICKS
October 4 & 5, 2025 | Woodstock School of Art, Woodstock NY

Have you been wanting to try R&F Pigment Sticks? Here is your chance! In this weekend workshop Instructor Melanie Delgado leads students through creating abstract works with R&F Pigments Sticks. The workshop gives students access to the full color line of over 100 pigment sticks to use. This workshop is great for anyone curious about oil paint, especially using R&F Pigment Sticks. Delgado will lead painters through an exploration, tips & tricks and the beauty of creating with these superior oil sticks. Suitable for all levels, no experience necessary! Ages 18+
