January 2024

Painters, friends & fellow artists...

Happy New Year!

I think of you often, wishing you well

& most importantly, hoping you are finding time for yourself.

Time to paint or create or take care.

I am writing to ask for your help.

I’m wondering if you would be comfortable writing a testimonial for me?

I am adding some services to my website (more on that in a moment)

And it would be great to have feedback directly from you.

People I admire and love.

If this sounds like something you can do...?

Please email me here with a few words about your experience with me!

Feel free to include pros and cons.

This is helpful to me as an evolving artist and instructor.

Thank you!

As you know,

I have been an instructor at The Woodstock School of Art for many years now.

Outside of teaching at the school,

I have continued my own painting practice,

Private instruction and mentoring other artists.

Simply passing along what I have learned

On my (mostly) self- taught journey.

So, with your help

I would like to expand my private practice...

I am opening up my schedule

to take on new clients/artists for a mix of services:

- Private Art Instruction

- Social Media Guidance

- Art Submissions

- Networking

- Website Review

- Studio Visits & Art Critique

- Short Term Goals

- Long term Goals

- Solo Art Practice

If you are ready to take your art practice

To a new place & want to hear more...

Please send me a message and we can talk!

Thank you for your continued support and trust!

Looking forward to seeing you one way or another in 2024!

Lastly, here is where you can find me:

Here’s what people are saying….

""Melanie explains her painting process in an uncomplicated manner which I have found to be effective and inspiring. Her classroom environment has helped me loosen up, get out of my head, and just paint! She gives helpful and encouraging feedback. Whether you’re new to abstract painting, or looking to learn something new, try her class!”

Margarita, Saugerties NY

“I’m so happy that I signed up for this class. Melanie’s encouragement and meditative approach to working in a variety of mediums is exactly what the doctor ordered for the perfect way to start the week and the New Year. Hearing Melanie talk to the class as she pushes and pulls at each piece is so helpful, especially if you are needing to figure out how to begin (again). Wonderful insights and a playful yet thoughtful approach to the work of creating is so helpful for anyone struggling to find their way through the creative process. Thank you, Melanie. You're a treasure.”

Deborah, Woodstock NY

I adore Melanie. Our paths crossed in her abstract art class at the Woodstock School of Art. Her vibrant energy and strong sense of self captivated me instantly. As an intuitive abstractionist, I connected with her as a kindred art spirit. Melanie encourages me to follow my intuition, reflecting the essence of a great teacher who fosters growth.

David, Hudson NY

“Melanie was one of the first artists I connected with upon moving to Woodstock in 2014. I was trying to build a community of friends who were creating from their most authentic heart space, and I quickly fell into the painterly, peaceful wisdom of Melanie and her abstract vision. I have been to several of her shows and have purchased her expressive works for cherished family and friends. Melanie has also been a trusted advisor to me on the subject of social media presence. It is something I abhor, but she has helped me find my own voice on a platform I resist, and she encourages me through her own honest approach. I am grateful to know Melanie in the ways of both friend and teacher.”

Sandy Bell, Kingston NY

“Melanie was the commentator for a talk about my work at Pinkwater Gallery last Summer. I found she had a unique voice and that was dynamic yet succinct. Her analytical observations are invaluable to any artist.”

Mimi Young, Olivebridge NY

“Melanie is one of the most generous humans I know. Not just with her knowledge, but also with her time, support, and compassion. She meets you where you’re at and eliminates the fussiness and seriousness that can so often make art feel intimidating. The result is a joyful community where art feels approachable, accessible, and fun.

Her openness to sharing experiences and insights has helped me grow tremendously as an artist over this last year and I feel lucky to have her as an instructor, mentor, and friend.”

Yoko Izu, Woodstock NY

"I took a 2 day Abstract Painting workshop with Melanie in December 2022. I was nervous as it was my first “formal” painting class, and I had never before attempted abstract work. Melanie immediately made me feel safe and at home with her warmth and kindness. She created a space to play with materials and make marks without fear—which often feels like half the battle when it comes to sitting down and making something. She offered a process for bringing together different materials and looking at the composition as it emerged that felt incredibly fresh and exciting. The class completely changed my approach to making images. Melanie is such a supportive and generous instructor/guide, and I’m looking forward to taking more classes with her!”

Rachel, NYC

“I am one of Melanie Delgado's most ardent collectors.  I own two large paintings that have been a source of joy for several years now.  They occupy a place of honor in my home.

I have never taken classes with Melanie, but I have observed how committed and devoted she is to her students' success and satisfaction.  She puts her heart and soul into her work as a teacher, and makes sure that her students feel comfortable and gain confidence regardless of their starting point.

I also think that Melanie would make an excellent business coach.  She is tireless and creative in promoting her art, her process, her galleries and her teaching.  She is extremely well-organized and professional.  She is an excellent writer and is skilled in social media and video techniques.”
